Logic is for the birds, eh? Because we have one friendly dictator in the Muslim world, we should cool our heels on democracy? Liberals are catching at straws nowadays. We are happy for a friend in Jordan, but do we sacrifice the future good because we fear the effects of freedom in Jordan? Bad, bad, bad.

Newsday.com - Bush Should Cool Democracy Sell: "Jordan is one of few countries still ruled by a hereditary monarch. On the other hand, like his father, the late King Hussein, the new king, Abdullah, is a moderate. So while the government here is heavy-handed, it is nonetheless seeking to steer Jordan toward modernization."

To liberals, perfection is only required of conservatives. All manner of imperfections are tolerated by their own crowd, but every imperfection of their enemies is magnified and trumpeted abroad. But then, politics is a nasty business and those with weak stomachs ought not apply.

Of course, those who believe that Star Wars is history and Genesis 1-3 is not are very apt to think that Osama is snuggling up to the Ark of the Covenant right now somewhere in the bowels of the U.S. bureaucracy.

Jonah Goldberg: Bush's strong foreign policy successful: "Note: I didn't say it's an 'unmitigated' success. We haven't found Iraq's weapons of mass destruction. The reconstruction of Iraq is incomplete and could go south again. American troops are still dying. North Korea hasn't abandoned its nuke program yet. The Middle East 'Road Map' is a still a road to nowhere. And Osama bin Laden is still at large - unless Madeleine Albright is right and he's actually being held in the same warehouse where the U.S. government hid the Ark of the Covenant at the end of the first 'Indiana Jones' movie."
...
"The significance of Saddam's capture has been thoroughly hashed out by now, and only Baathists, grumps, fools and Dean supporters think it is anything but an untrammeled victory for the forces of truth, justice and the American way. In the wake of Saddam's capture, lethal attacks on Coalition troops have decreased dramatically and hundreds of high-ranking resistance members have been scooped up."
...
"That's why Gadhafi told Italian Prime Minister Silvio Berlusconi last fall, 'I will do whatever the Americans want, because I saw what happened in Iraq, and I was afraid.' That was before he saw Saddam's tonsils on CNN."

Wooohee! This Bush isn't your father's Bush.
